2009 Marked the 10th Anniversary for Panera Bread in New Jersey!
It all started with one cafe in 1999. Ten years later, Panera Bread has 37 bakery-cafes and counting in northern and central New Jersey.
To celebrate our 10-year Anniversary in New Jersey we went back to where it all started: West Orange. Mayor Mckeon was on hand the first day Panera opened its doors 10 years ago and again this weekend as an honorary baker serving delicious free samples throughout the day. Local residents were also invited to compete in a Halloween pumpkin decorating competition. The top three winners received $100 gift cards. Panera employees and managers that have worked with the cafe for 10 years all came together to recognize this tremendous achievement. Best part is, we donated 10% of all proceeds that day or $1,000 to the Bethany Center for Champions, a local West Orange youth organization that teaches life skills to at risk youth.
Panera continued to give back to the community all month with their Pink Ribbon Bagel fundraising campaign for breast cancer research, Anniversary T-shirt giveaways, coffee sampling, and free baguette giveaways every 10 days throughout the month of October.
